Introduction
FamSign ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the FamSign mobile application.
Information We Collect
FamSign collects minimal information:
- Voice Input: When you use the microphone feature, speech is processed locally on your device and is not stored or transmitted to our servers.
- Usage History: Previously entered phrases are stored locally on your device for your convenience. This data never leaves your device.
- Purchase & Subscription Data: If you make a purchase, transaction information (such as purchase tokens, subscription status, and device identifiers) is processed by RevenueCat, our subscription management provider. See the Third-Party Services section below.
- Email Address (Optional Sign-In): If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address to authenticate you and to synchronise your purchased sign packs across this app and the web at app.famsign.com. Sign-in is entirely optional — the app remains fully usable without it. We do not collect names, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information.
How We Use Information
- Voice input is converted to text locally and immediately discarded
- Phrase history is stored locally to provide quick access to frequently used phrases
- Purchase data is used solely to verify and manage your subscription entitlements
- If you sign in, your email address is used only to authenticate you and to identify you to RevenueCat so your purchased sign packs follow you across this app and the web. We do not use your email for marketing or analytics, and we do not sell or share it.
Data Storage
Most data is stored locally on your device. You can clear local data at any time by:
- Using the "Clear History" button in the app
- Clearing app data in your device settings
- Uninstalling the app
Purchase and subscription data is also stored on RevenueCat's servers as described below.
If you have signed in, your email address and authentication metadata are stored by Supabase (our authentication provider; see Third-Party Services). This data is retained until you request deletion. See our account deletion page for full instructions and the list of data we delete versus retain. An in-app deletion option is planned for a future update.
Third-Party Services
FamSign uses the following services:
- Microphone: For speech-to-text conversion (processed locally on-device)
- Local Storage: To save your phrase history on-device
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect device identifiers (e.g. IDFV on iOS), purchase history, app version, and platform information to verify and manage subscription entitlements. This data is transmitted to RevenueCat's servers. RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: If you choose to sign in, we use Supabase as our authentication provider. Supabase processes your email address to send you a one-time sign-in code and to maintain your session. Authentication data is transmitted over TLS and stored encrypted at rest. Supabase acts as a data processor on our behalf. For more information, see Supabase's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / Google Play: Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. Their respective privacy policies govern payment processing.
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Children's Privacy
FamSign is designed for family use, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children directly. Purchases must be made by an adult account holder. RevenueCat's data collection is limited to purchase and device information necessary to manage subscriptions and does not include children's personal data.
The optional email sign-in feature is intended for adult account holders. If you believe a child has provided their email address without parental consent, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.
Data Security
Local data is protected by your device's operating system and security settings (screen lock, encryption, etc.). Data transmitted to RevenueCat is protected in accordance with their security practices.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
